Bentley is proud to be a brand committed to the wellness of building occupants, as well as the environment. We are happy to provide the tools needed to assess our products and performance.
The Declare Program, written by the International Living Futures Institute (ILFI), is a transparency based initiative designed to promote product health and awareness. Three questions are asked when participating in this program:
Where does a product come from?
What is it made of?
Where does it go at the end of its life?
Once products are broken down by ingredients, they are then screened against the Red List to identify overall product health. The Red List is a compilation of ingredients that are classified as “the worst in class materials prevalent in the building industry”. Upon completion, labels are generated that display these verified ingredients and are made publicly available on ILFI’s website.

Bentley’s Environmental Product Declarations
Bentley’s Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are certified in accordance with ISO 14025. These declarations describe the environmental characteristics of our products, and promote the growth of sustainable production.
EPDs serve as a life cycle assessment tool. They quantify the environmental impact of a product or system. EPDs include information on the environmental impacts of raw material acquisition, energy efficiency, and material content, air emissions, soil and water impacts, and waste generation.

Health Product Declaration
The Health Product Declaration (HPD™) is a tool for the reporting of product contents and ingredients’ relationship to human and ecological health. It attempts to systematize reporting language to enable the consistent disclosure of building product content and associated health information.
The HPD is designed to function as a complement to the Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) protocol that facilitates the consistent development and reporting of flows of energy, carbon, water and other pollutants from a product’s Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) and characterizes related environmental impacts.
More information on the HPD can be found on the Health Product Declaration Collaborative’s website

Cradle to Cradle
The Cradle to Cradle Certified™ program is a multi-attribute green label that assesses product safety for health and the human environment, guides design for the future, and leads manufacturers toward continuous environmental improvement.
Bentley carpet products are certified under Version 3.1 of the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ Product Standard at the Silver level. To achieve Cradle to Cradle certification, Bentley products were evaluated according to material health, material reutilization, renewable energy and carbon management, water stewardship, and social fairness standards. NSF® 140
NSF/ANSI 140 Sustainable Carpet Assessment (NSF® 140) is the industry-leading standard for sustainability evaluation and certification of carpet products across their entire life cycle. This third-party standard provides a market-based definition and path to more sustainable carpet through performance requirements for the individual product and the manufacturing organization. The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) requires all broadloom and carpet tile purchased by the U.S. government to be certified to NSF 140 at the gold certification level or above. Bentley products are NSF 140 certified at the gold and platinum level.

CRI Green Label Plus
All of Bentley products are certified to meet the requirements of the Carpet and Rug Institute’s (CRI) Green Label Plus test protocol. This independent testing program measures total volatile organic compounds (VOC) emissions as well as individual chemical concentrations. CRI’s Green Label Plus test criteria help customers identify low emitting products.
Today, indoor air quality (IAQ) is an important environmental consideration, especially since we spend approximately 90 percent of our time indoors. The enhanced Green Label Plus program sets a high standard for IAQ and ensures that customers are purchasing the very lowest emitting products on the market. Using scientifically established standards, the Green Label Plus program symbolizes the carpet industry’s commitment to a better environment for living, working, learning, and healing.

Conformité Européenne (CE)
The CE marking indicates a product’s compliance with European Union legislation and so enables the free movement of products within the European market. By affixing the CE marking to our products, Bentley declares that the products meet all legal requirements for the CE marking, which means the product can be sold throughout the European Economic Area.
Before being placed on the market, Bentley has verified that the product complies with all relevant essential requirements (e.g. health and safety or environmental requirements) laid down in the applicable directive(s), and an independent conformity assessment body has examined the product. This satisfies the applicable legislative requirements (e.g. a harmonised level of safety) for sale throughout the European Economic Area.
